Coming back to Tel Rumeida I ran into several army guys in shorts jogging through the city. Tel Rumeida is home to religious Palestinian Muslims and religious Jewish settlers. On both sides, most people are fairly socially conservative. They both really frown upon people wearing shorts, and it is one of the few things you can do in the West Bank that will equally antagonize both groups. I guess the other would be hosting a pork tasting festival.
I have no idea what these guys were thinking, or rather, what their commander was thinking when he had them jog and work out in Tel Rumeida in shorts. But I took a picture and here it is.
