Israeli soldiers in East Jerusalem. Mostly they just stand around and drink juice and talk.
I saw another group of soldiers search a young man two days ago in the evening. They ordered him to open his bag and one was almost yelling at him. The guy looked in his 20s and was looking down, avoiding eye contact with them.
Cats. These guys make everyone's day. Every breakfast they jump on the table, people's laps and wherever they can get as close as they can to the food. No matter how much you shoo them away they always come back.
Graffitti. It says "This Jew supports Palestine".
Different graffitti. I saw this at the Sheikh Jarrah rally and asked one of the Jewish activists what it meant. He said it was made by settlers, who drew a swastika over a spraypainted Palestinian flag, then put a Star of David beside it. The message as was explained to me is that Palestinians are nazis and that Jerusalem is for Jews only. The man told me it was very insulting, not only to Palestinians but also to Holocaust survivors who lived through the Second World War. He said his family supports him in the struggle for Palestinian rights.
